General Information

In Queensland, conveyancing is exclusively performed by registered solicitors, as conveyancing licenses are not recognized in the state. While it is possible to establish a conveyancing company as a law firm, it must comply with all regulations outlined in the Legal Profession Act.

To operate, both the solicitor and the law firm must possess a current practicing certificate and have professional indemnity insurance. It’s important to note that conveyancing licenses issued in other states are not recognized in Queensland, and licensed conveyancers from outside the state are not permitted to practice here.

Typically, solicitors in Queensland have dedicated staff who focus on conveyancing, ensuring that all work is supervised and signed off by a qualified solicitor.
